The Secretariat of Environment (SEMA) and the Institute of Environment and Water Resources (INEMA), in partnership with the AIR Centre, have organized the First International Forum on Environment and Blue Economy: Promoting Innovation Networks in the Brazilian Northeast, that brought together research institutions, companies and public agencies from various countries to exchanges ideas and experiences on innovation and the Blue Economy This Forum aimed to mobilize local and regional governments, researchers, entrepreneurs and civil society for the discussion of common policies and establishment of a common scientific agenda as well as the strengthening of local capacity and development of joint projects, aligning local priorities and global challenges, such as the UN 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, Decade of Ocean Science for Sustainable Development (2021-2030), the Paris Agreement and the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction. As a result, it provided an open and fruitful forum discussions for international scientific and technology collaboration between Brazil, Africa, Europe and the United States of America.
