Food Systems Investment Forum to Mobilize Equity Capital for a more resilient Caribbean food system

The Caribbean is preparing to welcome investors, agri‑business leaders, and development partners for the Food Systems Investment Forum - Mobilizing Equity Capital for Resilient Food Systems in the Caribbean, taking place on 15 June, at the Hilton Barbados Resort. The event is co‑organised by United Nations Barbados and the Eastern Caribbean and CAF - Development Bank of Latin America and the Caribbean, bringing together regional and international actors committed to strengthening the resilience and competitiveness of Caribbean food systems.

Designed as a platform where capital meets opportunity, the Forum will feature a series of Deal Rooms that connect investors offering equity, debt, or blended finance with agri‑businesses seeking investment to scale, innovate, and build climate‑resilient operations.

Participants will have the opportunity to engage in four thematic Deal Rooms:

  • Climate Smart Agriculture Platforms, hosted by CAF Development Bank of Latin America and the Caribbean

  • Agro‑Processing and Manufacturing, hosted by Maria Rojas Gonzalez (European Investment Bank)

  • Cold Chain and Logistics Infrastructure, hosted by Rodinald Soomer (Caricom Development Fund)

  • Blue Economy Food Systems, hosted by Anna Toness (Inter‑American Development Bank)

These Deal Rooms will serve as a structured environment for pitching, matchmaking, and investment exploration, helping bridge the gap between capital providers and high‑potential Caribbean enterprises. The Forum aims to accelerate the flow of finance into sectors that are essential for food security, climate resilience, and sustainable economic growth.

With the Caribbean facing increasing climate pressures, supply‑chain vulnerabilities, and rising food import bills, mobilizing investment into local and regional food systems has never been more urgent. This Forum represents a step toward building a more robust, innovative, and self‑sustaining food ecosystem for the region.

Investors and agri‑business owners interested in participating can still register through the event’s official form: Register here.
